Press Release: Fourth Annual International Students Summer Program, DREaM 2012

p>The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia is pleased to announce that Gajah Mada University (Universitas Gajah Mada/UGM), Yogyakarta, is offering the Fourth Annual International Students Summer Program, DREaM 2012.  The Program is slated to take place in Yogyakarta on July 1-14, 2012.  The intent of the program is to enhance relations among youths across cultures and countries.

The theme of the program is Alternative Education, aimed at finding solutions to problems existing in the conventional system. Alternative Education approach is based on principles of community engagement and environmentally friendly practices.

DREaM 2012 participants will be encouraged to discuss and implement ideas of alternative education during their academic activities that include attending lectures, internship, tutorials, community service and excursions.

Eligibility

  1. Undergraduate students from any major/department
  2. Strong academic record
  3. Good command of English (proven by English proficiency  certificate)
  4. Independent and able to work in a team

Required documents

  1. Registration form (download from http://oia.ugm.ac.id/dream)
  2. Essay (one page A4 sized paper) on one of the following themes:
    • The Importance of Alternative Education in the World
    • Alternative Education in Today’s World
  3. A copy of English Proficiency Certificate

Program Fee

  • Indonesian Students
    • Program Fee : Rp. 1,000,000.00
    • Accommodation** : Rp. 2,000,000.00
  • International Students
    • Program Fee : US$ 250.00
    • Accommodation** : US$ 400.00
  • UGM Partner University Students*
    • Program Fee :  Waived
    • Accommodation** : US$ 400.00

* Please confirm this partnership with IRO at your university or our participant coordinator.

** Should you opt for a different accommodation, DREaM 2012 will not be responsible for this arrangement.

*** DREaM 2012 does not provide return airfare.

The deadline for submission is April 15, 2012
