Indonesia and The Province of New Brunswick will enhance the cooperation in Trade, Investment, Economy, Politics and Education

The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, the Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries of New Brunswick expressed their readiness to cooperate with the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa to enhance the economy and trade and to send a trade mission to Indonesia. The Deputy Mayor of Fredericton offered the opportunityA� for a sister city cooperation and to participate in the annual Multicultural Festival in August. The University of New Brunswick is open for education cooperation with Universities in Indonesia.

The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Canada are 61 years oldA� in 2013. During the third Indonesia-Canada Bilateral Consultative ForumA� in Ottawa, 23 Agustus 2013, co-chaired by the Foreign

Minister of Canada and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, both Ministers agreed to issue a Joint Statement to deepen bilateral engagement by focusing on increasing prosperity through trade, investment and economic cooperation, through political and security cooperation, and through collaboration on social, education, cultural and people to people contact.

In order to encourage this cooperation andA� to increase the understanding and knowledge on Indonesian potential in Canada, a country withA� 10 Provinces and 3 Territories, A�continuous close coordination is needed. Those efforts are to maximise the diplomacy through A�meetings with various share holders in each province including the working visit of the Indonesian Ambassador to Fredericton, the capital of theA� Province of New Brunswick on 3-4 December 2013.

The theme of the visit to New Brunswick wasA� a�?Deepening the bilateral engagement between A�Indonesia – New Brunswick in trade, investment, economy and educationa�?. To achieve this purpose, the Indonesian Ambassador had meetings with A�New Brunswick government officials, such as His Honour the Honourable Lieutenant Governor Graydon Nicholas; Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries, the Honourable Michael Olscamp, Deputy Mayor of Fredericton, Mr. Stephen Chase; with the parliament, the Honourable Speaker Dale Graham of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, with businessmen,A� the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and with the education circle, Vice President (Academic) University of New Brunswick, Dr. Daniel Coleman (CR/Indonesian Embassy).
