Indonesian Souvenirs Impress at WTO MC9 Official Souvenir Shop

Bali, 4 December 2013– On the sidelines of the Ninth World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference (WTO MC9) in 3-6 December in Nusa Dua, Bali, the Directorate General for National Export Development Ministry of Trade used the opportunity to exhibit souvenir products in the Official Souvenir Shop of this meeting.

“The souvenirs that we display in the Souvenir Shop are produced by the 10 small and medium enterprises under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade. This souvenir shop is the only supplier of official souvenir products which has gone through a stringent selection process from the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Swiss,” explained Nus Nuzulia Ishak, the Director General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade

The ten SMEs referred to are Wira Silver, which are showcasing brooches, rings, silver ballpoint; UD. Kamasan for coin purses and brooches; Pasific Express which are supplying t-shirts; Utami Silver for silver sculptures and silver handicrafts that are combined with seashells.

Besides that, there are also some fan products from Wiracana; T-shirts, polo shirts, brooches, key chains, pencil cases, bags, business card holders and hats from Kriya Nusantara; flower vases, ashtrays, and glasses from Focus Desain; brooches, cufflinks, key chains from Celuk Desain Center; dolls from Alleira, as well as mugs produced by 9 Benua.

This souvenir shop is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Trade, the Industry and Trade Office of Bali Province, and Matahari Department Store Kuta Bali (MDS). This souvenir shop has a modern retail concept with neatly arranged displays and managed by skilled cashiers, shop assistants, and foreign exchange officers.

The amount of transactions recorded on the first day was IDR 68 million. “This amount is, of course, expected to continue to increase until the end of the conference. The transactions achieved on the first day shows that the quality of Indonesian souvenirs can meet international standards and is warmly accepted by international consumers,” said Nus.
