JCI climbs 0.58%, hits new record at Fridaya��s close

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed on a positive note on Friday, climbing by 0.58 percent to 5,374.16 points, hitting a new record high.

Foreign investors booked a net buy totaling Rp 2.27 trillion (US$177.06 million) between the lunchtime and closing sessions on Friday, reported.

Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data revealed that 138 stocks ended in the green while 142 stocks weakened and 102 stocks remained stable at 4 p.m.

The volume of trade from the midday session to the final session involved 4.99 billion shares worth Rp 6.11 trillion ($476.58 million).

Shares in nine out of 10 sectors traded on the IDX strengthened with infrastructure recording the highest increase, jumping by 1.37 percent, followed by consumer products and mining, which rose by 0.89 percent and 0.58 percent, respectively.

The only sector failing to improve was agriculture, which decreased by 1.12 percent at Fridaya��s close.
