Economy in brief: Women in Global Business has RI branch

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson and Indonesian Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti launched in Jakarta on Tuesday the Indonesian chapter of Women in Global Business, the Australian embassy said in a statement.

Ambassador Grigson said he was proud to launch the first chapter outside Australia.

“Women in Global Business Indonesia will provide women entrepreneurs a safe and secure international business network. Women are key drivers of economic growth in Indonesia and this program will empower many to start their own businesses or expand them into international markets,” he said.

The program includes mentoring programs to build vital skills and networks. It also includes workshops, events and research into the barriers affecting women and the motivations of women engaged in international markets. On the activist front, it promotes advocacy on the domestic and international stage.

Women in Global Business is an initiative supported by Australian state and territory governments. Businesses owned and operated by women is one of the fastest growing business segments.
