Islands in focus: C. Java to dispatch 500 nurses to Suriname

The Central Java administration will dispatch 500 nurses to Suriname to meet the increasing demand for medical professionals in several of the countrya��s hospitals.

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the dispatch of the medical workers was at the request of the Suriname government.

a�?What they have specifically requested are nurses with kidney failure treatment skills. This is among the number of agreements the Central Java administration and the Suriname government has formed,a�? he said in Semarang on Monday.

To meet the demand, the governor said, the provincial administration would recruit new graduates from several nursing academies in Central Java.

a�?Apart from medical workers, Suriname is also in need of accounting and banking specialists,a�? said Ganjar.
