Indonesian Festival 2018 Brings the Beauty of Indonesian Fashion to Ottawa

The Embassy of Republic of Indonesia in Ottawa presents its biggest annual event in Ottawa, the Indonesian Festival 2018: Indonesian Fashion in Ottawa. The Festival will be held from 28-29 July 2018 from 10 am-5 pm at the Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park.

This year’s Festival will be showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Indonesian heritage through the elegance of Indonesian Couture collection, stunning hand-written and printed Batik patterns in modern attires and lush and attractive accompanying accessories. These fashion products are not only for runway show but also ready to be purchased by Canadians. The Indonesian Festival 2018 has the honor to showcase the creativity of 15 Indonesian fashion and art designers based in Jakarta, Bali, Montreal, New York and Chicago to Canadian audience.

The Indonesian Festival 2018 will not be complete without Indonesian culinary treasures. The food market bazaar will give the chance for Canadians to taste authentic and unique flavors of Indonesian cuisine made by our talented Indonesian communities in Ottawa. Visitors will travel through the diverse tastes of Indonesian food, from Beef Rendang and Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice), two Indonesian dishes voted as number One and Two CNN World’s 50 Best Food 2017, to Indonesian fritters and snacks (jajan pasar) and end the feast with traditional healthy Indonesian drinks called jamu as thirst quenchers.

The Festival will also bring different experience of Indonesia to its visitors through cultural performances. Indonesian talented dancers and musicians will represent the diversity and multiculturalism of Indonesia through dynamic and vibrant traditional dance that will surely be enjoyed by Ottawans. The Festival will also give the opportunity to its visitors in understanding better Indonesia’s tourism places renowned for their natural and exotic beauty.

The Indonesian Festival 2018 will be officially opened on Friday evening, 27 July 2018 at the Horticulture Building by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Dr. Teuku Faizasyah and Mayor City of Ottawa Honorable Jim Watson. The opening night will showcase 69 Indonesian fashion and accessories collections from 6 Indonesian designers. The Opening Night of Indonesian Festival 2018 is a private event. Invitees include representative from Embassies and High Commissions, government officials and fashion communities in the city.
