Teuku Faizasyah
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Canada and
Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

Before assuming position as Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Canada and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in November 2014, Teuku Faizasyah served the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Prof Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as his Special Staff for International Affairs (Foreign Policy Advisor). He also acted as Presidential Spokesperson for International Relations from September 2010 to October 2014.  In that capacity, Teuku Faizasyah accompanied President Yudhoyono in numerous international events.

Prior to the appointment to the President Office, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Foreign Minister and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia since April 2008.

Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990, Teuku Faizasyah has served in various positions, including Deputy Director for Political, Social and Security Issues of the Office of the Foreign Minister (2003-2004); Section Chief of Economic Data in the Agency of Research and Development (1998-2000); Section Chief of ASEAN’s Tourism Development in the ASEAN Economic Bureau (1994-1995); and Staff of the Directorate for American Affairs (1991-1992). Teuku Faizasyah also served as the Head of the Secretariat of the Presidential Advisors and Special Envoys (2003-2004).

His appointments in the representatives of the Republic of Indonesia abroad include a position as Staff of the Economic Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. (1995-1998); and Political Counsellor and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Pretoria, South Africa (2004-2008).

Teuku Faizasyah obtained a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Waikato, New Zealand (2004); a Master of International Studies at the University of Birmingham, UK (1993); and a Bachelor degree in Social and Political Science at Padjadjaran University, Indonesia (1989).

Teuku Faizasyah has written a number of opinion articles in Indonesian national media such as the Jakarta Post and Kompas. He served as a speaker at some international seminars, both in Indonesian and overseas.

Teuku Faizasyah is married and has three children.
