Darmasiswa 2012-2013

Darmasiswa is a one-year or less non-degree Scholarship Program organized by the Ministry of National Education since 1974, and is intended for those who wish to study Indonesian culture in the following areas:

  1. Indonesian language or local dialects
  2. Dances
  3. Music
  4. Musical Instruments
  5. Shadow Puppets
  6. Arts and Crafts
  7. Gastronomy
  8. Traditional pharmacy
  9. Horticulture/biodiversity
  10. Interfaith and local wisdom

I. Programs Offered (See List)

II. Requirements

  1. Age: 35 years or less
  2. Minimum education: completed High School
  3. Language: English or Indonesian
  4. Basic knowledge of chosen subject
  5. Submit an application to the Indonesian Embassy  (forms can be downloaded from  the Indonesian Embassy’s Website)
  6. Attach to the application form:
    • Medical Certificate
    • Photocopy of latest Academic Transcript
    • Photocopy of Certificate/Diploma
    • Letter of Recommendation from Institution/University/School
    • Letter of Recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate

III. Important Dates

  1. February 14, 2012 :  Deadline for submission
  2. March 2012 : Administrative selection
  3. April 15, 2012 : Academic selection
  4. April 30, 2012 : Notification of successful participants
  5. May 30, 2012 : Confirmation of acceptance  by participants
  6. June-August 2012 : Regular Three-Month Program
  7. End of July 2012  : Courses at Universitas Indonesia begin
  8. August 2012-January 2013  : Regular Six-Month Program
  9. August 2012-July 2013 : Regular One-Year Program
  10. Early August 2012  :  Participants’ arrival in Indonesia

IV. Rights and Responsibilites

  1. Successful Applicants will receive a total amount of Rp. 2,000,000.00 (two million Rupiahs) monthly stipend during the duration of the program.
  2. Darmasiswa Committee will pick up participants at the airport and assist participants in finding accommodation.
  3. Participants shall be willing to provide assistance to the university/institution, when required, in the processes of foreign language training and other academic activities.
  4. Participants shall duly complete the Program
  5. Participants must provide a statement to the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate prior to leaving for Indonesia in which Participants agree to the following:
    • adhere to the university’s/institution’s rules and regulations
    • not to make any changes to the field or place of study
    • not to commit any crime
    • not to get involved in political activities or seek employment
    • not to get involved in substance abuse
    • not to travel outside of the country more than once during study
    • not to be accompanied by family member(s) or friend(s)
    • not to hold responsible the Indonesian Ministry of Education for any loss or damage to Participant’spersonal  belongings
    • return to country of origin, in failure  to the adherence of above mentioned  rules or immigration regulations.

V. Travel to Indonesia

Participants are responsible for their travel expenses to and from Indonesia. The Indonesian Government will bear the travel expenses to universities/institutions located outside of Jakarta and participants shall be responsible for the return travel expenses to Jakarta.

VI. Health Insurance

The Indonesian Government does not provide health insurance during  the program, therefore Participants are advised to avail themselves of international health insurance.
