UN SPECIAL ENVOY TO VISIT INDONESIA
The Jakarta Post - October 13, 2007UN Headquarters, New York (Antara): UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday (Friday in Jakarta) announced that he would send his special adviser on Myanmar, Ibrahim Gambari, back to the region to meet with regional partners about the situation in the troubled Southeast Asian nation.
"Ibrahim Gambari is scheduled to visit Indonesia on Oct. 17-19 for a consultation with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda on Myanmar's issue," Indonesian permanent representative to UN, Marty Natalegawa, said after his meeting with Gambari on Thursday.
He said that in Jakarta, Gambari would meet with President Yudhoyono to convey a letter from UN Chief Ban Ki-moon and then meet with Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda.
"It can be predicted that Gambari will discuss his view on the latest development of his mission in Myanmar and what Indonesia will do in its effort to overcome Myanmar's issue," Marty said. (***)
